2009 Influenza A - H1N1 (Swine Flu)
Our public access cable program "Pandemic Influenza: What You Need to Know" was recorded prior to the current 'Influenza A (H1N1)' outbreak. However, the flu prevention messages described still apply to the current outbreak. These everyday flu prevention measures include:
- Frequent hand washing,
- Covering your coughs and sneezes,
- Avoiding contact when possible with those that are ill
- Avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth, as germs are often spread when you touch something that has been contaminated with germs, and then touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Staying home from work or school when you are sick, to avoid spreading germs.
These everyday actions should be applied routinely, and are especially important at this time.
